Falstaff rewarded us with three forks :)

The Austrian culinary publication Falstaff has published a updated international restaurant guide.  Gostilna Krištof is rewarded with three forks (91 points out of 100) among 164 restaurants among 164 restaurants.

Falstaff is the most influential specialized gastronomy magazine on the Austrian market.  Their international guide features, among other things, a selection of Slovenian restaurants that are distinguished by their superb “culinary delights paired with excellent Slovenian wines”.

Thank you, Falstaff. Each award is proof that we are on the right track.

We will take part in the green culinary event “Kranjska dolga miza”

On Thursday, 23 June, the Krištof Restaurant team will take part in the green culinary event “Kranjska dolga miza”, organised for the second year by The Insitute for Tourism and Culture Kranj.

The main programme of the event will focus on current sustainability topics, and this year’s edition will focus on the transfer of knowledge between generations.

For this event, the best chefs from Kranj, in the company of young chefs, will prepare dishes using 100% local ingredients from local producers, without the use of single-use plastics and with a minimum amount of food waste.

Krištof team members also took part in the Cooperation Day

On Friday, 13 May, members of the Krištof team took part in the high-profile Cooperation Day event at Sv. Jošt above Kranj. Our chef Uroš Gorjanc, together with young souce chef Žan Triler, treated the guests to the traditional Slovenian dish “Žvarcet”, which is basically a veal goulash. Of course, Uroš wouldn’t be Chef Uroš if he hadn’t transformed this traditional dish into a more modern version inspired by Slovenian fishermen and made the dish from calamari. This way, guests could enjoy the “Žvarcet” with calamari on roasted polenta with tomato foam and fried basil.

Happy Easter

With a lot of love and precision we baked a delicious homemade Potica for the Capuchin Brothers from the Capuchin Monastery in Škofja Loka.  We wish you all a Happy Easter, celebrate it in peace and with carefully prepared festive delicacies.😀

Uroš Gorjanc, Traditional Cuisine Chef by G&M 2022

The Gault & Millau Slovenia online event has revealed the top-rated restaurants and the recipients of the Gault & Millau Slovenia Awards for 2022. We are delighted that this year’s Gault & Millau Traditional Cuisine Chef is our Chef Uroš Gorjanc.

Michelin Guide Slovenia 2021

Also in 2021, we found ourselves in the company of the best Slovenian restaurants which were included in the Michelin guide Slovenia 2021.

We received the Michelin Green Star and the Michelin Plate.

We are very proud on both awards we have received.

The Michelin Green Star is entended to support and encourgae sustainable practices in the culinary world, Michelin awards the Michelin Green Star highlighting chefs committed to commendable environmental practices. It is only awarded to those whose restaurants are listed in one of the categories included in the Michelin Guide. The green star celebrates their courage and ingenuity reflected in the sustainable practices that they use in their everyday work, their collaboration with environmentally-conscious suppliers and their waste management. The L’assiette Michelin or Michelin Plate recognises restaurants that serve carefully prepared meals made from fresh ingredients in a homely atmosphere. The food is simply good in 39 Slovenian restaurants.

Restaurant Week / June 2021

We are participating in Restaurant Week, or Teden Restavracij in Slovene, which returns to Slovenia this june where Restaurants across the country are participating in the largest nationwide culinary event. From June 18 – 27, special multi-course gourmet meals prepared by the very best Slovene chefs will be available for €19 and €25.

*Gostilna Krištof will accept reservations for Slovenian Restaurant Week (June 18th to 27th) from Monday to Friday from 16. hrs to 20.30 hrs.  On Saturday from 13.00 hrs to 20.30 hrs. We will be opened also on Slovenian public holiday (June 25th) from 13.00 hrs to 20.30 hrs.  We are closed on Sunday. Exact booking times will be agreed by e-mail: kristof@siol.net.

MICHELIN Guide: Stars & Awards Announced

Michelin has arrived in Slovenia. The stars and awards for Slovenia were announced on Tuesday 16th June 2020 at a special event at Ljubljana Castle. One of the specially invited guests was also our Chef Uroš Gorjanc.

We are honoured to be among top Slovene restaurants and to receive Michelin Sustainability Award and The Plate Michelin as well.

Six restaurants were noted for sustainability. The award reflects concern for environmental protection and resourcefulness at everyday sustainability practices.

The Plate Michelin, a designation for fresh ingredients and carefully prepared meals, went to 37 restaurants.
